Legislative and Regulatory Efforts

Across our nation, utilities are looking to replace older practices that have a negative environmental impact with green technology practices that do not. As a key part of a utility’s infrastructure, transformers are a focal point of this effort. One successful process adopted by many utilities is to switch from petroleum-based mineral oil transformer fluid to more economical, safer, and environmentally-friendly biodegradable bio-based fluid. Because it is bio-based—unlike petroleum-based mineral oil—it is a totally renewable fluid for use in transformers.

Bio-based fluid is preferred in many areas of the country, where laws, incentives, and tax benefits promoting its use are increasingly discussed and enacted at both the federal and state levels.
